Where Are They Now: Lawrence Shaheen, Jr., Ignite Charlotte 2

We caught up with past Ignite Charlotte speaker, Lawrence Shaheen, Jr. (y’all know him as Larry) to find out the latest and greatest in the world of politics.

If you recall his talk at Ignite Charlotte 2 on Bringing Charlotte Together by Bridging the Gap he said (quite boldly, in fact) that “We have to find a way to bring our leaders together… and help them understand that we all stand and work together.”

He continues working towards collaboration by bringing people of common interests together to get things done for the people of Charlotte. Since his involvement with Ignite Charlotte, business has been booming and he has begun teaching at UNCC.

Ah, how the budding ‘poly sci’ pupils of Charlotte will be ignited like we once were.

Better Know A Sponsor: Josie Mazzaferro of Allen Tate Realtors

Josie Mazzaferro is a realtor with Allen Tate Realtors and a proud sponsor of Ignite Charlotte 4. Josie works with buyers and sellers to help Charlotteans find happy housing. She also partners with landlords to market their rental properties and screen tenants, as well as helps residents find rental properties to call home. She is proud to serve the community’s real estate needs and build relationships with her clients.

Josie is very active in the social media community and uses the platform to communicate with friends, learn about the world around her and even connect with Charlotteans searching to find a new home in the community. In 2012, she plans to partner with other members of the social media community to host networking events, spotlight local businesses and offer free walking tours.

“Everyone is equal in the social media community,” said Josie of her fondness for the democratic communication channel. “Everyone has some sort of expertise they can use to help the other members of the community. We’ve created a safe environment for people to ask questions and share their passion and experiences.”

This love for creating venues for people to share ideas and expertise also drove Josie to an involvement in Ignite Charlotte. As a volunteer, Josie was able to help engage in the programming, make new friends and even grow her business. In fact, Josie’s network of friends from Ignite Charlotte helped establish 25 percent of her revenue in 2012!

After enjoying such an amazing experience, Josie decided to dedicate her marketing dollars and energy to Ignite Charlotte 4 as a sponsor. She is proud to help make Ignite Charlotte a FREE event that will allow neighbors to learn and benefit the community.

Thanks Josie Mazzaferro of Allen Tate Realtors, we look forward to working with you and appreciate your commitment to Ignite Charlotte 4.
